Awana Grand Prix
Our Awana Grand Prix is the BIGGEST nite of the year! We really try our best to
do it up right. We have a 3-lane track built by Brother Tommy, and it has
served us well for 10+ years now.
Here's a picture of the trophies...

Kids coming in for the check-in must have their cars weighed to make sure they are under
or equal to the maximum 5-oz weight.

Folks sometimes bring in their valuable cars in boxes to avoid meddling hands
before the race.

...a little last-minute modifications go on at the 'Pit Crew' table...

Cars must pass over the 'Drag Strip' to ensure they won't drag on the lanes.
They also must be able to fit inside the 'Go-NoGo Boxes' there on the ends of
the table.

Folks check in at different spots. All use the same scale, but they go on different lists.
Here, the Cubbies Director is checking in his Sparky son.

One young man in T&T checks in his car...

And receives a sticker identifying the weight on the bottom of the car.

Opening with a word of prayer...

...and, we're OFF to the races!! Sparks go first.

Here are some of the onlookers...videotaping the event...

Brother Tommy carefully lines up each car on the track, for fairness...

A Sparky anxiously awaits the next heat...

Cubbies cheer for big brother!

T&T's wait for their race...
